Dear Supporter,
I hope this note finds you healthy, and doing your part to help stop the spread of the coronavirus, by staying home. This is an extremely hard time for all of us, but especially hard for the kids in the communities that we serve. For these kids, the fear of the unknown, and the disruption to their daily routines is anxiety producing and scary. Thankfully, many of the music programs we work with are committed to providing music classes via online platforms to engage kids while they shelter in place. Continuing to learn and practice their instruments will give these children a much needed sense of structure and normalcy.
As always, Hungry for Music is committed to helping in any way we can. Since these kids can no longer share instruments at their school or after school music program, we want to provide instruments to some of these students to use in their homes. This is why I am reaching out to you today. We need your help to get an instrument into the hands of every child looking to focus their nervous energy on the healing power of music.
Please consider donating the cost of safely packaging and sending a donated instrument ($25 to $75 depending on the size of the instrument) to the home of a child currently enrolled in a music program. Or, help us buy a new instrument for a child (a list of instruments and wholesale costs is below). With your assistance, we can turn the hours, days, and weeks ahead into an opportunity for a child to learn, grow, and heal. Please visit our donation page to make your donation today.
Thank you for your support and interest in Hungry for Music. Thanks to you, Hungry for Music has placed more than 14,000 instruments into the hands of aspiring musicians in 49 states and 30 countries. Music has the power to create community, inspire and express talent and creativity, but most importantly, to heal. I know we will get through these hard times, we must, for the sake of our children.
